Hangang Brewery, also known as 한강주조, is a unique brewery located in Seongsu-dong, a neighborhood by the Hangang River in eastern Seoul. The brewery was established to promote the resurgence and identity awareness of sool(traditional Korean alcohol).
Hangang Brewery is known for its dedication to creating traditional Korean rice liquor, makgeolli, as a medium to bridge the past and the present by capturing past traditions and culture in a way that is relevant today. They use 100% ' Gyeongbokgung rice' grown in Seoul, adhering to the principle of no artificial sweeteners or additives.
Their product range includes the popular Naroo Makgeolli, available in two versions: 6% and 11.5%. The Naroo Makgeolli 6% is known for its natural sweetness from rice and clean acidity, while the 11.5% version starts with a deep sweetness and heavy texture, leading to a rich aroma of green apples.
Hangang Brewery has been recognized for its quality, winning the Makgeolli Grand Prize in 2021 with its Naroo Makgeolli 6%. They continue to showcase new and unique sool.
